  • It sounds like something out of science fiction - a hotel room on wheels, but this new concept from Germany could soon become reality.  Here are some key facts:
  • Concept created by Germany's XOIO product visualization group
  • Called the "Swift Pod"
  • Sleeping space for two travelers
  • Autonomous driving
  • Futuristic triangular design
  • Comprehensive media system
  • Contains snacks and drinks for on demand goodies
  • Can calculate speed needed to get to destination on time
  • Meant for long distance, particularly overnight travel
  • New form of travel that could be part of the future. 

NEW SCIENCE:  MUSIC ACTUALLY STRIKES A CHORD INSIDE US:  HEART, STOMACH & MORE

  • Scientists have investigated the ways in which musical notes elicit bodily sensations and emotions.  Their findings:
  • Over 500 people were asked to listen to 8 tunes and map where they felt the music
  • Tunes that were more surprising were felt in the heart
  • Specifically, there was a link between sensations in the heart and aesthetic appreciation, feelings of pleasure and less anxiety
  • Predictable music was felt in the stomach
  • The stomach sensations were associated with feelings of predictability and a decline of feelings of anxiety
  • Study done by University of Tokyo
  • Key areas of the body impacted by music:  brain, heart and stomach
  • Upshot: Music is experienced throughout the entire body and may contribute to stress relief and enhance mental health
