Source: Stock
- Scientists from Nagoya University in Japan have discovered how to diminish and even eliminate anger during stressful situations. This is new innovation in anger management. Here are some key facts:
- Previous anger management methods that have been effective include:
- Take deep breaths
- Go for a run
- Scream into a pillow
- Nagoya University research study has resulted in a new & innovative approach to dissipating feelings of anger from insults, slights, setbacks and other hurtful situations:
- Participants were asked to write an opinion piece on a social issue
- They received negative comments on what they wrote
- Then they were asked to write down their feelings about the insulting comments they received
- One group kept their written notes; the other threw-out their written notes
- Net result: while all were angry, those who threw out their notes, eliminated their anger almost entirely and the other group didn't
- Upshot: Write down what just made you furious and then throw the paper out. See if it works.
- The scientists found there is something therapeutic about dismissing anger by materializing it in writing and then throwing it away
- Real science you can use!
