DIET CHANGES THAT CAN REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
- Stanford and Tulane University experts say some basic food swaps can help to lower our carbon footprint by 35%. Here's what we know:
- Their study states that cutting your carbon footprint by diet wouldn't require a complete overhaul
- Some examples:
- Swap crab for salmon
- Meatless hotdog instead of a cheese-filled hotdog
- Have a chicken sandwich instead of a cheeseburger
- BBQ pork short ribs for BBQ beef short ribs
- Turkey lunchmeat instead of salami
- Chicken for lamb chops
- Turkey ham for canned corned beef
- If changes like these were universally adopted, it would cut the US dietary carbon footprint by more than 35%
- This research is a recipe for individuals to reduce their environmental impact and improve the quality of their diet at the same time
- While small changes like these dietary ones by individuals can have large impact, it can only help reduce not eradicate Climate Change.
